Who Am I?

Who Am I?

Scott O’Neill

My name is Scott O’Neill. I am a reluctant saint or simply a sinner blessed by the grace of God. Both are true. For 20 years, I was self-employed before retiring over a decade ago. Since then, I have been a caregiver for my grandfather until his passing. For the past three years, I have worked in corporate America, not in a high-level position but enjoying the benefits and freedom of not being part of management. Been there, done that. Now, in my mid-50s, I plan on taking it easy, learning to have fun, and hopefully being a part of building a great community serving our Lord.

I believe part of our reluctance stems from misunderstanding who God is and our relationship with Him.

We often misunderstand the nature of God and the concept of the Trinity: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. We forget that these three are distinct persons in one divine essence. We also misunderstand Jesus' role. When He calls us friends (John 15:15), we may overlook His kingship, which needs to be respected and honored. These are two significant misunderstandings, and I am sure we will discover many more as we go along.

As a personal side note and blessing, I have heard the voices of God and of the Blessed Mother. What an overwhelming blessing! The Holy Spirit, however, is not so much a voice but an understanding of what He is communicating. This is an amazing experience that words cannot adequately describe, but you will know it when it happens.

One last thought: just think of it—Father and Son's love created the Holy Spirit. How amazing it is that love creates! For the scientists out there, this is your big bang.

Please come back and take part in this journey and feel free to leave a comment.

John 15:15 King James Version
15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.
